This past Monday, I celebrated International Women's Day at the DVF Los Angeles store. I was interested in going to support the Haitian designer, Phelicia Dell as well as see the new Spring Collection up close. Neither one disappointed! Other special guests were Alyse Nelson, President of Vital Voices, and Jenny O, a vocalist.
Vital Voices is a non-profit organization that travels the world in search of extraordinary women who transform lives and bring peace and prosperity in their communities. They invest in and bring visibility to these women. Phelicia Dell is one of those women! She designs beautiful handbags and was the winner of DVF's Artisan Design competition in 2009. Her handbag was featured in DVF stores across the country and on-line. With the help of Vital Voices and DVF, Phelicia is one of the most well-known haitian designers in Latin America and the Caribbean. Gotta love that!
